EMS1 is proud to be the Premier Media Sponsor of the Pinnacle Webinar Series. Brent Myers, MD, MPH, FACEP, FAEMS; and Remle Crowe, PhD, NREMT, present “High Risk, High Stakes: Utilization of Hospital Outcome Data to Evaluate Care for Critical EMS Patients,” a webinar sponsored by Bradshaw Consulting Services with the assistance of Island Tech Services, Binder Lift, National EMS Management Association and Fitch & Associates. Anecdotal reports of individual patient outcomes in the media have focused attention on EMS interventions without the benefit of the larger context.

In a Pinnacle Webinar, presented by Fitch & Associates, on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 1 p.m. CT, learn how linked hospital data have been utilized to predict outcomes for EMS patients. The association of risk stratification scores, patient complaints, and EMS interventions will be reviewed in relation to desired outcomes. Particular attention will be paid to the effects of out-of-hospital use of physical restraints and chemical sedation.

Join this interactive session to learn about:

  • The patterns of utilization for out-of-hospital sedation, including ketamine, benzodiazepine and anti-psychotics
  • Association of prehospital patient characteristics with hospital outcomes
  • Differences in outcomes for patients treated with ketamine based upon indication for treatment (e.g., pain, vs. altered mental status, vs. respiratory)
  • Challenges with defining and evaluating patients with excited delirium vs. other behavioral health emergencies
  • Risks associated with treatment for excited delirium, including physical restraints, conductive electrical device and chemical sedation
