NEW YORK — The lawyer for a veteran FDNY paramedic who’s accused of raping his new wife defended the first responder as a man who got framed when he tried to divorce her before she became a U.S. resident.
Elwood Thomas, 50, is charged with forcing himself on his 34-year-old wife - sometime in the summer and again last week, but defense attorney Oliver Storch argued Tuesday it was a bad romance, not a violent one.
“He married a younger person and sometimes love doesn’t work out,” the lawyer said after Thomas was arraigned in Brooklyn Criminal Court.
