SPRING HILL, Texas — A Spring Hill senior football player is recovering in a Dallas-area hospital tonight after taking a hard hit Friday night and suffering a concussion on the field.
Spring Hill administrators say, while there’s no current law requiring schools to keep a certified athletic trainer on staff, the fact that they had one likely saved this athlete’s life.
Athletic Director Mark Sartain described the tackle. “Middle of the third quarter, [quarterback Garrett Plumlee] took a couple shots that required he leave the field.” Sartain says that’s when Athletic Trainer Michael Rich stepped in.
