FORT SMITH, Ark. — The director of Fort Smith EMS and a woman are both in fair condition after the two were involved in a two-vehicle collision early Wednesday.

About 7:30 a.m., Tim Hearn, 53, was traveling south on Massard Road in a Nissan Juke while 66-year-old Pamela Killough was traveling north on Massard in a Ford Focus, according to information from Sgt. Daniel Grubbs with the Fort Smith Police Department.

Killough reported falling asleep at the wheel. Witnesses told police Killough’s vehicle bumped the right side curb and veered into oncoming traffic, where it stuck Hearn’s vehicle near the intersection with Moody Road, according to Grubbs.

Both Hearn and Killough were taken for hospital treatment with injuries that were not life-threatening. Both were wearing seat belts. Killough was cited for careless driving, Grubbs stated.

Grubbs confirmed via text message that the Tim Hearn involved in Wednesday’s collision was the same Tim Hearn who is the director of Fort Smith EMS.

Hearn and Killough were listed in fair condition at Mercy Fort Smith as of 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to a hospital spokeswoman, Laura Keep.
