WACO, Texas — Dashcam footage shows a paramedic who was hit by a drunk driver while on a call pushing his partner out of harm’s way, according to police.

KWTX reported that the police confirmed, but will not release, a video that shows Rory Barros saving his partner from being hit by a drunk driver before being critically injured himself.

Barros remains in intensive care and faces several operations down the road, according to officials.

“The force of the car slamming into my husband caused severe injuries to his skin, muscle and soft tissues all along the left side of his body. Some of his skin will heal, but some of it will not,” Barros’ wife Amy said.

Alec Nava, the driver of the car, was arrested for intoxication assault on a public servant and driving without a valid license.
