AMARILLO, Texas — The first image Shawn Fraley saw when he became conscious was his wife, Tanya, standing above him talking to a 911 operator. He groggily heard her tell an emergency responder her husband already had been shocked once. He was aware of a blue gel on his chest.
“I’m going, ‘What in the world?’” he said. “I couldn’t believe what happened. It was like I was coming out of a bad dream.”
At least Fraley, 54, was coming out of some state of unconsciousness. Had he not been wearing a Zoll LifeVest in the early morning hours of April 18, like he was not the previous night, Fraley most likely would not have survived in his Borger bedroom.
