STAFFORDSHIRE, England — A paramedic shared a story of angry drivers yelling at her for blocking a parking space while she treated a patient in cardiac arrest.
Daily Mail reported that West Midlands Ambulance paramedic Katie Tudor fired back on Twitter at bystanders who were yelling at her crew while they hurried to perform CPR on the patient in the parking lot of a school.
“Please don’t shout at me for blocking your parking space when I’m trying to coordinate the extrication of a PT in cardiac arrest!!” Tudor said in her tweet. “We are desperately trying to save someone’s life and could do without angry bystanders!”
A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson said “the patient must always come first.”
“In this particular incident, our staff was trying to save the life of a patient who had suffered a cardiac arrest, the most serious type of call we attend,” the spokesperson said. “It is simply not acceptable that staff who are there to help people should suffer abuse from patients, their relatives or others at the scene.”
