LANGLEY, British Columbia — An ambulance and a train collided Friday morning near Vancouver, injuring two paramedics and a patient.
A nearby witness told Global News they heard the train’s horn blasting for about 45 seconds and the sound of locking breaks. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
Two people were airlifted from the scene. The medic in the rear of the ambulance is currently in stable condition and the patient being transported at the time of the collision is reported to have life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the ambulance is suffering from some back pain but is otherwise uninjured, according to an RCMP update.
No personnel on the train sustained any injuries. The train was northbound at the time of the collision.
Multiple police units, five ground ambulances and two air ambulances responded to the collision.
