WORCESTER COUNTY, Mass. — At least 40 towns in Worcester County are banding together in a central purchasing effort designed to save money on supplies needed by area emergency medical service operations and ambulance crews.
This venture is made possible by a $26,000 state grant sought by the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission in Worcester, which will administer the program.
“We applied for Local District Technical Assistance Grant funds and what we’re doing is creating a regional purchasing cooperative for EMS medical supplies,” said Janet A. Pierce, regional services and business manager for the CMRPC.
