JANESVILLE, Wis. — A man suspected of being high on drugs kicked at emergency medical technicians, causing one of them to fall down stairs, according to a criminal complaint filed Monday in Rock County Court.

The Janesville EMT tore a calf muscle in the fall April 8 and was scheduled to be off work until April 24, according to the complaint.

In addition to the battery charge, Scott A. White, 49, of 2317 Center Ave., Janesville, also was charged with disorderly conduct and bail jumping. He was held on a $200 cash bond after his court appearance Monday and was ordered to maintain absolute sobriety while his case is pending.

Police were dispatched to 221 N. Franklin St. for two men unconscious in a hallway, but White was conscious, and he appeared to be under the influence of a drug and in need of medical treatment. A bag of synthetic marijuana and smoking materials were found at the scene, according to the complaint.

White was “restive” and tried to jump off the gurney and kicked at the EMTs when they tried to treat him, according to the complaint.
