UK man killed in crash with ambulance

The 70-year-old man was hit by a Ford Focus Paramedic Response Unit responding to an accident

A pensioner died after being hit by a paramedic vehicle responding to an emergency, police said today.

The accident happened around 4.55pm yesterday in Ayr when the 70-year-old man was hit by a Ford Focus Paramedic Response Unit.

Strathclyde Police named him as Robert Cunningham from the Ayrshire town.

He was crossing Prestwick Road when the accident happened.

Police said a report would be submitted to the procurator fiscal and appealed for witnesses.
