DOVER COUNTY, Tenn. — Fire and emergency workers are being asked to pay their respects to a fallen rescue worker tomorrow.
Second Lt. Timothy A. Byrd, 46, will be laid to rest Thursday. He died early Monday after spending a day working to recover a drowning victim. He was the first death in the line of duty in the history of the Dover/Stewart County Rescue Squad, according to the fire service’s chaplain, Tony Chester.
No cause of death has been released. Chester said anytime a death occurs within 24 hours of a call it’s considered in the line of duty.
