Greater Valley EMS personnel will be transporting plenty of people this New Year’s-but on a safe trip home, rather than to the hospital.
Emergency responders will trade their ambulances for vans once again for Greater Valley EMS’ Safe Ride Home program, which offers free rides home to revelers who think they’ve had a bit too much fun.
The program will run from 5:30 p.m. New Year’s Eve until 3:30 a.m. the following morning, according to Greater Valley EMS Assistant Chief Todd Pruitt.
Anyone wishing to be picked up can call the organization’s main number at (570) 888-6000, and receive a free ride home within Greater Valley’s main coverage area of Barton, Chemung and Waverly, N.Y., Athens Township, Litchfield Township, Sayre Borough, South Waverly Borough and Athens Borough, Pruitt said.
