Medina County emergency medical workers are embarking on a campaign they say could save lives. It’s a massive push for new address signs.
Medina County EMS workers run on more than 2,000 calls a year. Their biggest handicap? Finding their way to the right house in rural areas peppered with mailboxes and unmarked driveways winding off a maze of county roads.
“Obviously, this causes a delay in patient care, patient treatment and the initiation of it,” said Sherry Trouten, community EMS administrator. “And sometimes, that’s the difference between life or death. You don’t know which house belongs to which address.”
