WILMINGTON, Del. — New Castle County Councilman Jea P. Street is calling for an investigation into the county’s paramedic unit after two men Street believes are paramedics inadvertently left a recording on his answering machine that he considers racist.

“If they want to come after me, they’d better bring it on,” said Street, who was visibly angry as he told fellow council members Tuesday night about what he heard in the message. “I’m not going to let this go away.”

The message was left Monday on the machine in Street’s council office. He retrieved it Tuesday evening just before the 7 p.m. council meeting.
