LAURENS COUNTY, S.C. — An Upstate fire department building was destroyed by fire Thursday. At around noon, a fire at the Ekom Beach Fire Department at 7385 Neely Ferry Road in Laurens County was reported.
Multiple fire departments assisted in fighting the fire that completely engulfed the volunteer fire station and destroyed everything inside.
Greg Lindley with Laurens County Fire Service said, “This is just a terrible loss. This is a community-started fire department. This building was probably built by the community. A lot of trucks, owned by the community. They worked and slaved for years to have this.”
