CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A man’s health is being evaluated after he stole an ambulance and crashed it on a dead-end road in Chapel Hill on Friday.
Rescuers were reportedly treating a victim inside a home on Deerwood Court when the victim ran outside and stole the rescuers’ ambulance, police said in a news release.
The victim drove the ambulance around the neighborhood and hit multiple parked vehicles, including a firetruck, in the areas of Longleaf Drive, Willow Drive, and Emory Drive.
The victim crashed the ambulance at the dead-end of Emory Drive before he was caught by officers.
The victim was taken to UNC Hospital for a medical evaluation, police said.
Charges are pending.
