Kansas City proposes settlement in ambulance death

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City has proposed settling a legal claim filed by the family of a man who died on the way to a hospital apparently without the ambulance crew realizing it.

An ordinance introduced Thursday calls for the city to pay $205,000 to settle a claim concerning the death of Frank M. Nigro Jr.

Nigro, 52, died during a city ambulance transfer from St. Luke’s Northland Hospital on Barry Road to St. Luke’s near the Plaza on Jan. 19.
