WARWICK TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The female driver of an ambulance and a 32-year-old woman driving an SUV were both injured in a collision as the ambulance was transporting a shooting victim to the hospital.
A Warwick Community Ambulance crew responded to a call for a person shot in the parking lot of a restaurant, and was on the way to Lancaster General Hospital when it was hit by an SUV at an intersection, Lancaster Online reports.
Police say the ambulance had its lights and sirens activated as it proceeded through a red light; the driver of the SUV had a green light.
The ambulance was hit on the driver’s side, behind the cab, and sustained minor damage. The SUV had heavy front-end damage and was towed. The crash occurred a block from the hospital, and the ambulance continued on to deliver the patient, investigators said.
