HAVERSTRAW N.Y. — A state parks employee who died Sunday after plowing at Harriman State Park has been identified as Richard Capper, of Haverstraw.

Capper was discovered unconscious in his truck Sunday morning after he had plowed the parking area near the abandoned Silver Mine ski area. His truck caught fire after he was removed, leading police to believe he had passed out with his foot on the throttle, causing the truck to overheat.

He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy is being performed, but officials believe he died of natural causes.
