LOUISVILLE, Ky. — It was a Metro EMS crew that found themselves in need of help after they crashed at the intersection of 1st and Broadway in downtown Louisville.

Police say a Jeep Cherokee slammed into the driver’s side of the ambulance around 1:30 a.m. Saturday. The Jeep suffered significant damage and the door was removed from the ambulance where two crew members were inside.

“They were not responding to a run and did not have a patient in the ambulance,” Col. Lee Dennison of Metro EMS said. The two crew members and three people inside the Jeep were taken to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
