GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. — Authorities in a Mississippi county are searching for a shooting suspect who escaped from an ambulance on Wednesday night.

Michael Allen Travers, 24, is wanted by the George County Sheriff’s Office on charges of shooting into a motor vehicle, escape and receiving stolen property. Officials said deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop on Travers when he fled in a stolen vehicle and then crashed it.

Travers was being transported for minor injuries after the crash when he escaped the rig, authorities said. The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information about Travers’ whereabouts to contact deputies or the Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers.

Travers is described as being six feet tall, weighing approximately 185 pounds and having blue eyes, brown hair and multiple tattoos. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and no shirt. Officials said he should be considered “armed and dangerous.”
