RICHMOND, Ind. — A drunk driver allegedly caused an accident involving an ambulance transporting a patient Thursday.
Chasity Fosnaugh turned left without yielding to the Randolph County EMS ambulance that was transporting patient Alverta Wallcott to a hospital, the Pal-Item reported.
The ambulance struck the SUV Fosnaugh was driving and then a light pole, snapping it at the base.
The impact of the collision broke the floor mounts that secured the gurney in the back of the ambulance. The gurney rolled forward and pinned paramedic Benjamin Simmons against the wall.
The EMT who was driving, Brayden Fields, complained of pain after the crash. Both medics and the patient were transported to the hospital. Fosnaugh was not injured and charged with two counts of DUI.
