DALTON, Ga. — The wife of a Whitfield County 911 dispatcher took her own life in front of her estranged husband in the parking lot of his workplace Sunday morning, Dalton police said.
Police department spokesman Bruce Frazier said Tifiney Necole Arp, 38, of Chatsworth, drove to the 911 center on Professional Boulevard to talk to her husband about their impending divorce.
It was about 10:40 a.m. The husband, 35-year-old Jeffrey Russell Arp, was standing by the truck, talking to the woman sitting in the driver’s seat. No one else was in the lot just then, Frazier said.
The woman reached for a handgun in the truck, put it to her head and fired. Ambulance crews responded but the woman was dead, Frazier said. She did not leave a note explaining her actions, he said.
According to the husband’s Facebook page, he is a Southeast Whitfield High School graduate who has worked at Whitfield 911 since 2004.
The wife’s Facebook page shows that she changed her profile picture on Saturday.
The photo shows her smiling, standing outdoors in sunglasses, her arms around someone dressed in a fuzzy yellow baby chicken costume.
This story was updated at 9:45 a.m. Dalton police say family members have been contacted and the names of the victim and husband have been released.
