EL PASO, Texas — A paramedic tending to victims at a crash scene fell 20 feet to the ground through an opening in a highway Monday, and is now in stable condition.
The 15-year veteran medic was trying to jump over two concrete barriers on the highway, and didn’t realize there was a gap in between, a Texas Department of Transportation official told KFOX14
The medic has not been identified, but he was a lieutenant from Rescue 6, fire officials have said. He was taken to University Medical Center with facial injuries.
The freak accident, as it’s being called, occurred around 2:30 a.m. on the Loop 375 exit ramp.
