CHICAGO — A Chicago firefighter on a snowmobile rescued a mother and her newborn about noon Wednesday from a home on a snow-choked South Side street, officials said.
The woman and child, who were whisked to an ambulance waiting nearby, were doing well at St. Bernard Hospital & Health Care Center in the Englewood neighborhood, a fire official said.
“The baby was born a few minutes before we got there,” the official said. “It was a typical run — other than the snowmobile.”
