The International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) has launched a survey to help advocate for funding for fire and EMS departments during the COVID-19 national emergency.

According to a statement, the association is looking to measure the effects of state and local government social distancing orders on local fire and EMS department budgets, including the long-term implications on resources and staffing.

As such, the IAFC Economic Crisis Task Force chair, Chief Steve Pegram, along with other task force members, developed a survey to obtain data about the financial effects of the pandemic. This information will assist the IAFC’s efforts to educate the Trump Administration and Congress about the economic assistance needed to help fire and EMS departments maintain operations during this economic slowdown.

Members are encouraged to complete the survey by April 28.

The IAFC has developed a dashboard to aggregate the results of this survey. Information entered will not be identifiable by individual agencies.
