DETROIT — An EMS crew was fired after an internal investigation showed they failed to perform adequate CPR on a patient who later died.
Click On Detroit reported that Angela Hodges called 911 for her son Patrick Clemmons, 30, after he collapsed to the floor on Jan. 4.
When an ambulance arrived, Hodges said she was relieved, but then became distraught when the EMT and paramedic did not begin immediately assisting her son.
Hodges said she had to help him to his feet, and into a sitting position when the EMS crew refused.
“They did nothing to help my son,” she said. “I miss him. I miss him.”
Sitting on Hodges’ husband’s walker, Hodges said Clemmons scooted toward a gurney waiting outside, again with no assistance from the EMS crew.
An internal investigation revealed the crew also failed to perform proper CPR while en route to the hospital and were subsequently fired by the city.
