ROCHDALE, England — A paramedic said he was “blown away” when a stranger offered to pay for his gas as a thank you for his service.

Manchester Evening News reported that North West Ambulance Service paramedic Tony Jones recently posted on Facebook that he had just filled up his car in his paramedic uniform and walked inside the gas station when he learned the man in front of him had already paid the $56 bill for him.

Jones said in the post that he went outside and thanked the man, who said first responders “do a fantastic job and it’s the least he could do for people who do such an important job.”

The man did not want any recognition, but Facebook users were delighted by the act of kindness.

“How fantastic. So nice to be appreciated especially these days when it all seems to be about complaints,” Julie Rosewarne said.

“Fantastic ... restores your faith. Well done to you - whoever you are,” Susan Little added.
