AMARILLO, Texas — A man died Thursday after the pickup he was driving went off Tascosa Road into a ravine roughly 15 miles north of Bushland, Department of Public Safety officials said.

Derek Wade Brewster, 37, was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Debbie Horn after the wreck in which the pickup flipped and was engulfed in flames, DPS spokesman Trooper Christopher Ray said.

Brewster was an emergency medical technician working in the Texas Panhandle, Ray said, and was known by some of the Potter County firefighters who were at the crash site.
