NEW YORK, N.Y. — A FDNY EMT who was arrested after police responded to a domestic call and found weapons in his home says the guns actually shoot blanks, and the pipe bombs were fireworks leftover from his son’s birthday party.

A lawyer for Victor Cadicamo, 29, said it was a domestic incident blown out of proportion, NY Daily News reports.

“He’s been in the business of saving lives for six and a half years,” attorney Oliver Storch told a Brooklyn criminal court judge. “He had over a dozen pre-hospital saves from the fire department. He’s shocked and saddened by these charges.”

Storch said Cadicamo and his wife Christina Liskowitz, also an EMT, were arguing because he was drinking in front of their 2-year-old. She called 911 when Cadicamo threatened to shoot her in the head.

Officials say when officers searched his apartment they found five firearms, a rifle and two six-inch cylinders that appeared to be pipe bombs.

Brooklyn Assistant District Attorney Jordan Rossman said the firearms included a 9mm handgun with a silencer and “some sort of pistol that looked like an Uzi,” according to the report.

He has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon, harassment and menacing, and is being held on $700,000 bail.
