Ex-firefighter in custody after taking several hostage inside firehouse

The unidentified former firefighter took three to five individuals hostage; there were no immediate reports of any injuries


ELKINS PARK, Pa. — A former firefighter is in police custody after taking several people hostage inside a firehouse Tuesday morning.

CBS Philly reported that the incident began at about 10:50 a.m. at the LaMott Fire Company No. 1 in Elkins Park, Pa.

According to investigators, an unidentified former firefighter took three to five individuals hostage inside the building.

At about 11:50 a.m., the suspect was taken into police custody.

There were no immediate reports of any injuries.

The SWAT team was at the scene.
