Two hours of radio traffic between firefighters and police can be heard as the tragedy unfolded

NEWTOWN, Conn. — Audio recordings from the first responders involved in the Newtown elementary school shooting have been released.

Crews from Newtown Police and Fire Department and Conn. State Police can be heard radioing back and forth as shots are fired, calling for ambulances and for the location of students as they report a suspect down.

The radio traffic details how the fire station was used as both a staging area and triage center.

Gunman Adam Lanza killed 26 people, including 20 children on Friday before killing himself. It is still unclear what the motive was.
