NEW YORK — Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro will join FDNY paramedics, EMTs and officers on Thursday, May 5 at 11:30 a.m. at FDNY Headquarters to officially unveil this year’s new citywide posters celebrating national EMS Week 2016, which begins on Sunday, May 15.

This year’s FDNY-developed poster’s theme is “Called to Care,” featuring FDNY EMT Shaun Alexander of Station 58 in Brooklyn and paramedic Carlos Muller of Station 15 in the Bronx. Both members are recipients of distinguished medals honoring their heroic, quick-thinking, life-saving actions.

Carlos Muller helped evacuate and extricate a family from their burning home in 2013; while Shaun Alexander responded off-duty to provide medical treatment to a police officer shot in the line of duty in 2014. No matter the call, FDNY members are trained to respond with care, compassion and professionalism and this year’s EMS poster aims to commend this important, department-wide mission.

Designed and produced by Vanguard Direct, the poster is intended to raise awareness about the life-saving work of FDNY’s EMS members and will be displayed in 350 kiosks citywide.
