ATHENS, Ga. — An ambulance company is selling T-shirts to benefit an EMT injured in a crash that killed four college students and critically injured a fifth.
11Alive.com reported that Abby Short, an EMT with National EMS, was driving home from work when a car filled with University of Georgia students crossed the center line and crashed into her. Short sustained injuries that will require multiple surgeries for the injury to her leg.
“We are selling T-shirts to raise money for her in the upcoming days to hopefully ease financial burdens from missing work,” the fundraising website said. “Abby is a compassionate, selfless, caring and thoughtful girl and at this time we need to surround her with love and support and help her through this terrible time — she needs to know her EMS family, as well as everyone else thinking of her will carry her through the days ahead!”
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Department posted news about the sale on their Facebook Page.
The fatal crash, which happened on April 27, killed Kayla Canedo, 19, Brittany Feldman, 20, Christina Semeria, 19, and Halle Scott, 19. Agnes Kim is hospitalized in critical condition.
Investigators have ruled out speed and alcohol as possible causes of the crash.
