CONCORD, N.C. — A Cabarrus County woman who worked as a paramedic died Wednesday after her SUV hit a concrete barrier and rolled over on I-85, state troopers say.

Mary Ann Tymczyszyn Richardson, 52, of Davidson, was driving a maroon SUV in the northbound lane of I-85 about 1:20 Wednesday near the George Liles Parkway exit when she apparently lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a concrete barrier. The SUV overturned one time and came to rest upside down. Richardson was transported to CMC-NorthEast where she was pronounced dead at 1:59 p.m.

Witnesses said Richardson was apparently trying to change lanes when she realized another vehicle was in her way. She swerved to the right and lost control as she over-corrected back to the left, striking a concrete median barrier, according to information provided by the N.C. Highway Patrol.
