NORTH BELLMORE, N.Y. — A fire department is being sued after a woman died from traumatic head injuries she suffered from a gurney fall.
Fire Law Blog reported that the North Bellmore Fire Department is being sued by the estate of Anne Stahlberg, who was being transported to the hospital and fell from the gurney as she was being brought inside.
The lawsuit said that the firefighters transported Stahlberg in a “careless, reckless and negligent” manner by not securing her properly to the gurney and not keeping the gurney under control.
The lawsuit adds that the fire department was negligent in hiring its personnel and training them.
