Video: Bus bursts into flames on Mass. turnpike

All 47 passengers that were onboard are unharmed and were able to retrieve all their belongings

NEWTOWN, Mass. — Two right lanes are closed along the Mass Pike eastbound in Newton as officials extinguished a fire on a Bolt Bus, according to state police.

The Bolt Bus which was traveling from New York to Boston and caught fire around 5 p.m. with 47 passengers on board, according to Ashley Sears, a spokesperson for Greyhound Lines, Inc. which owns the line.

“Once the driver noticed smoke, the driver pulled over, evacuated the bus and called local authorities, who are currently investigating the situation,” said Sears.

“All 47 customers that were onboard are unharmed and were able to retrieve all their belongings,” she added.

State police confirmed that there were no injuries.

Delays are to be expected along the Mass Pike as the Bolt Bus smolders after being extinguished.
