MONTICELLO, Ky. — A former Ky. paramedic was sentenced to two years in prison Thursday for narcotic tampering.
Susie Willis, 49, admitted to breaking the seal on at least two vials of fentanyl citrate in May 2010. She took the medication for personal use, and then refilled the vials with saline solution, resealing them with crazy glue, according to WKYT.
She surrendered her EMT license in December 2010.
The saline solution could have caused extreme pain or impairment of bodily functions if administered to a patient instead of the intended fentanyl citrate, according to Willis’ plea agreement.
Under federal law she must serve 85 percent of her prison sentence and will be on supervised release for three years after she is released.
The investigation was conducted by the FDA’s Office of Criminal Investigations and the Kentucky State Police.
