BELDEN, Calif. — One weekend a month, starting in April, special releases of dammed water will swell the North Fork of the Feather River — turning merely challenging rapids into rip-roaring white water.
The events will produce runs of Class V or better, attracting highly experienced white-water rafters and kayakers, as well as less seasoned adventurers looking to improve their skills.
If any of them get into trouble — and some likely will — the official task of rescuing them falls to Butte County Fire/CDF.
