An off-duty Marin County firefighter/paramedic en route to a training class in Point Reyes put her emergency skills to use Monday when the car in front of her crashed into a tree and she provided first aid to the two victims.
“I just looked ahead on the road and saw this vehicle go into the tree,” said Sarah Gibson, 29. “All of a sudden, I’m on duty. I gave a lady who was there my phone to call 911.”
Gibson was westbound on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard near the entrance to the campgrounds at Samuel P. Taylor State Park. She was driving about 400 yards behind a 1998 Toyota Corolla driven by Judith N. Jessop, 58, of San Geronimo, according to police. Jessop’s 3-year-old grandchild was strapped into a child’s car seat in the back seat.
