SUV crashes into W.Va. nursing home

Emergency crews arrived to find the SUV buried in the side of a room; four people were treated for minor injuries

RAINELLE, W.Va. — An SUV ran through the side of a nursing home Wednesday afternoon, according to a press release from the Rainelle Fire Department.

Around 4:15 p.m., emergency crews were sent to Heartland Nursing Home in Rainelle. When they got to the scene, they found an SUV buried in the side of a room. There were two people in the vehicle and two people in the room, the release said. After stabilizing the walls and ceiling to keep anyone from getting injured further, everyone was pulled from the room and the vehicle. They were transported to local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries, the release said. The cause of the accident is being investigated by West Virginia State Police and Rainelle Police Department. Quinwood Volunteer Fire Department, Quinwood Ambulance Service, Alderson EMS, Rainelle Police and West Virginia State Police were sent to the scene. All units cleared the scene around 5:30 p.m.
