HOUSTON — Randy Roberson lost 40 pounds in three weeks and has lost a bit of his short-term memory, but right now he just considers himself lucky to be alive, since this time last month he was fighting for his life.
Roberson was perfectly healthy aside from having blood pressure that was slightly too high but controlled by medication. Up until two weeks before a heart attack nearly claimed his life Dec. 15, he had no idea anything was wrong.
His wife Sandy Roberson said he started complaining of chest pains and a “funny feeling” in his neck. He couldn’t explain the discomfort — it wasn’t pain — and she couldn’t get him to go to the doctor.
