ROCHESTER, Minn. — An amended complaint has been filed on behalf of a Mayo Clinic/Gold Cross paramedic who claims his rights were violated when he returned to work after military duty in Iraq.

The original complaint against the Mayo Foundation was filed in August in U.S. District Court. The amended complaint was filed Monday, adding another claim.

Specifically, Chad Lisdahl said he was told on Sept. 10, 2007, that Mayo had denied his long-term disability health benefits because Mayo determined his confidential medical disability was caused by or contributed to by “acts of war.” Lisdahl contends the denial of health care is in violation of the federal Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act. The amended complaint was filed by Lisdahl’s attorney, George Aucoin of Louisiana.
