2 EMS providers in ambulance follow man, rob him at gunpoint

They were arrested after an FBI investigation revealed they tailed the man from a casino

FLORENCE, Pa. — Two EMS providers were arrested and charged after following a man in a company ambulance, and robbing him at gunpoint in his driveway.

Wayner Segura, 29, and Jahyquiriz Ramos, 27, were arrested following an FBI investigation, NJ.com reports.

The victim, who was robbed of “various items,” reported the April 8 robbery, and told police he was followed from Parx Casino along the New Jersey Turnpike and to his home. He described the vehicle as a “plumber style” truck or van, with three tear-drop lights above the exterior cab.

Florence Police Capt. Brian Boldizar obtained surveillance footage from Parx Casino, which showed a Philadelphia-based American Ambulance Services ambulance following the victim’s vehicle out of the parking lot, as well as the two suspects inside the casino.

Detectives at first though the vehicle was a former ambulance purchased as a work van, but were surprised to find out it was still in service, and the suspects were employees of the company.

Boldizar worked with Pennsylvania state police and the FBI, since the crime crossed state lines, to locate the private ambulance company and the suspects.

Ramos was apprehended June 26 in Philadelphia, and faces robbery charges.

Segura turned himself in on June 29, and faces robbery and weapon possession charges.
