1. Where did your company name originate from?
AIM originally stood for “Ambulance Information Management,” and was the name of the original software produced in 1985 for the Alpha Ambulance Service of State College, Pennsylvania. Our new branding just released in November 2020 is “AIM EMS Software & Services.” We feel it tells exactly what market we serve.
2. What was the inspiration behind starting your company?
Our CEO was contacted by an ambulance service that needed help in computerizing their EMS processes. We were – and still are – inspired by the brave and noble people of EMS who save people’s lives and are thankful to be able to help them.
3. What is your signature product and how does it work?
Our flagship product is AIM Billing. It is a full EMS billing cloud-based software product. It handles the full range of EMS billing, accounts receivables, electronic claims, insurance verification and the full process of Revenue Cycle Management. It is affordable, easy to use and provides all of the essential EMS billing processes required for successful reimbursement.
We also provide EMS billing services and expert guidance utilizing our flagship AIM EMS billing product. Every billing service customer also receives free use of AIM NEMSIS certified ePCR.
EMS agencies require Dispatch, electronic Patient Care Reporting (ePCR), and EMS billing software applications. It is the primary workflow of an EMS agency and requires computer software solutions. Also, EMS billing services and expert guidance are required because some organizations find that outsourcing their billing is the most cost effective and compliant way to process their EMS billing and maximize revenue.
4. What has been the biggest challenge your company has faced?
The COVID-19 pandemic. Fortunately, as a technology company, we were able to adapt quickly to the demands of remote work, ensuring our customers still had access to quality customer support and expert billers.
5. What makes your company unique?
The fact that we provide both EMS software solutions and EMS billing services with expert guidance. We are the only major EMS software provider that does both and that gives us a special insight into the business because we use our own software to perform EMS billing.
6. What do your customers like best about you and our products?
The integration of our affordable, easy to use dispatch, ePCR, and billing products to produce seamless EMS workflow. Also, our customers appreciate our dedicated commitment to our customer success program.
7. What is the most rewarding part of serving the first responder community?
Being able to say that at AIM EMS Software & Services, “We serve those who save people’s lives”. Everyone knows someone whose life was saved or was given life-saving care by EMS, and we are proud to serve this community of care givers.

9. Is there any fun fact or trivia that you’d like to share with our users about you or your company?
Our CEO would not be alive today without the help of an employee who happened to be an EMT. He went into anaphylactic shock due to a wasp sting and was revived twice by the employee on staff before the local EMS crew arrived on scene. He feels he owes his life to serving EMS.
10. What’s next for your company? Any upcoming new projects or initiatives?
We’re excited that the newest versions of our AIM dispatch, ePCR, and billing products will be released around Q1 2021. We are constantly reviewing and revising our products based on customer feedback and are always improving!
