Crestline to deliver $4.5 million in specialized ambulances to the Department of National Defence

Sponsored by

Saskatoon, SK, Canada — Crestline Coach, a global leader in ambulance and specialty vehicle manufacturing and a Canadian supplier of small to mid-sized buses, secured a contract with the Department of National Defence to manufacture specialized ambulances for Canadian Armed Forces military bases, situated coast to coast. The contract is valued at $4.5 million, excluding options.

With its rugged design, the Crestline Summit 170 Type 1 is custom tailored to meet the precise specifications required by the Department of National Defence. Designed with robust off-road capabilities, the ambulances are built on Ford F450 4X4 chassis with diesel fuel engines. Their versatile and durable exterior is manufactured to withstand extreme environments and power through rough terrain. Medics need the ability to work regardless of road conditions and the LiquidSpring™ suspension system, integrated into the OEM chassis platform, delivers stability and ride quality that allows medics to care for patients in a stable environment with increased safety and comfort.

Crestline ambulances are known for their world-class safety for both patients and medics. In addition to its superior strength roll cage, the vehicles are outfitted with Austin Hardware Life Defender cabinet frames that are dynamically tested to ensure upmost safety and confinement of stored supplies in case of accident or collision. Installed in the rear of each unit are Zone Defense cameras to enhance visibility of surroundings when maneuvering the vehicle.

Ergonomics and efficiency also played a role in the design with various installments, such as flip-open cupboards. These are quick to access in emergencies, and easy to restock during shift changeover, allowing operator’s time to focus on more important tasks. The hands free waste disposal reduces cross contamination and improves ease of disposal while freeing up medics hands. To ensure superior care, each ambulance is equipped with additional medical equipment and supplies including built-in drug lockers, IV warmers and Zoll Physio Heart Monitors, allowing patients to feel confident in their care during a vulnerable time.

The Department of National Defence and Canadian Armed Forces will continue self-sustainability with the addition of the fully loaded Crestline emergency response vehicles. Soldiers and military families will have peace of mind knowing that if wounded, or in need of care, the Canadian Forces will respond rapidly and effectively providing first class care.

Delivery of the first ambulance shipment is scheduled for this month with remaining shipments continuing through August 2019. The delivery includes Operator and Maintenance instruction, which will be conducted and supported by Crestline, coinciding with unit deliveries.
