Philly ambulance with patient flipped by a minivan

The medic unit, transporting a patient with lights and sirens, was tipped on its side by the T-bone collision

PHILADELPHIA — A minivan, with a family of five inside collided with a Philadelphia ambulance Monday morning.

The medic unit, transporting a patient with red lights and sirens, was knocked onto its side by the collision, reported NBC Philadelphia.

Two adults and three children from the minivan were taken to hospitals, where they were all reported to be in stable condition later Monday morning. The ambulance’s patient was also reported to be in stable condition. Two medics from the ambulance were taken to the hospital for evaluation.

“The lights and sirens were on,” said Jesse Wilson, deputy commissioner of the Philadelphia Fire Department. “There’s significant damage to the medical unit at significant cost to the city of Philadelphia ... I’m happy there’s no serious injuries.”
