A fully loaded ambulance stolen from a Houston fire station Christmas Eve was discovered abandoned Sunday night in the 5300 block of Martin Luther King, authorities said.
The vehicle, valued at more than $100,000, was in good condition, but its emergency radio was missing, said Capt. Gilbert Bennett, spokesman for the Houston Fire Department.
The ambulance, with a bright red “25" on its side, was easily spotted, and Bennett said he’s unsure why anyone would steal it. He said its “automatic vehicle locating” device had been disabled near a Veteran Affairs Medical Center on Old Spanish Trail, its last known location, before a passer-by saw it on Martin Luther King .
