Houston ambulance stolen; crashes, injuring a bystander

Suspect tells news photographer he was told by “Lord Jesus Christ” to steal the ambulance

HOUSTON — A man accused of stealing and crashing an ambulance says he was told by Jesus Christ to steal the ambulance.

The Houston Fire Department reported the ambulance was stolen around 10 a.m. Friday, reported KHOU.

The ambulance was recovered about 30 minutes later after it crashed into a moving truck.

“I was upstairs working and I heard a loud bang,” said Randy Bingham, a witness. “I’ve never seen an ambulance involved in a collision like that, especially the way that it happened.”

Police said the suspect was arrested nearby. The suspect told a KHOU news photographer “Lord Jesus Christ told me to steal the ambulance.”

One of the movers was injured and transported to the hospital. There was no word on his condition.
